My Favorites: Books ❤

Hi Lovlies :)

If there is one thing you need to know about me - it's that I love reading.
I love books about "real life" teen problems (is that even a thing? Well, you know what I mean :p)
But recently, I'm leaning more towards adventure and mystery books.
So rambling aside, I feel that instead of just explaining what type of books I like I should just show you - well, duh ?!

Paper Towns - By John Green

Okay so I'm pretty sure that after the amazing book (followed by an almost as amazing film <3) "The Fault in our Stars" every person in the planet knows who John Green is - ok well that might be an exaggeration but you get my point :) So after I read and wept through that book, I went and bought the next book I saw by the same author. This book is really really good and it's definitely a page turner. Trying to make this as brief as possible, the book is about a teenage girl called Margo who runs away. The night before, Margo and a boy named Quentin went on a mission so that Margo can get revenge on some people. When Quentin finds out she is missing, he is determined to find her and he assumes that he left clues behind her.

Wonder - R.J Palacio

This book is literally one of the most touching books I have ever read. It's about a ten year old boy called August, who's face is severally deformed. Through this book, you discover the everyday struggles that he faces. You realize that even something so simple - like walking into a shop, can be something terrifying for this boy. It brings you on this emotional roller coaster whilst you witness the struggles he faces when he starts a new school. Something interesting about this book is that the author never describes August's face. All that's said is "I won't describe what I look like. Whatever you're thinking, it's probably worse."

Theodore Boone: The Activist - John Grisham

So to be completely honest, I haven't actually finished this book. But so far, it's really good, and this book is the third book of a series by John Grisham specifically for teens. The series is about a teenage boy called Theodore Boone who loves anything to do with court and trials. He is always trying to solve mysteries that he comes across - and more often then not, he is successful. It sounds simple and straight forward, but trust me, it's not. In every book there is a different mystery or case that slowly unravels leaving you shocked on how someone could have thought of such a plot. This series got me to love books about mysteries <3

I hope you enjoyed reading about my recent favorite books and I hope you'll give them a try. If you do make sure to let me know by tagging me on a picture on Instagram (janine_hall_) or commenting down below!
Do you have any book recommendations? I'm always looking for new books and authors so definitely comment the titles and authors!

DIY Canvas Art

A little Jar of Thoughts. Fashion. Beauty. DIY. Advice. DIY Canvas Art

Hey guys :)

So recently, I've seen tons of canvas art around different shops. They're a really cute way to show a quote or a saying. I love the idea, but I don't really love the price. I mean, seriously, is it necessary to sell a small canvas with the word "coffee." on it for 40 euro?
After I saw this, I knew it was time to go and rummage through my sisters art supplies for some paint and paintbrushes.
Keep on reading to find out how to make your own canvas art :)

Supplies:
1) Some sort of canvas (I used the top of a wooden box)
2) Spray paint
3) Paint
4) Paintbrush
5) Something to protect your surface

Completely cover the canvas with spray paint (I used white)

1) Let it dry
2) Then draw or write whatever you want on the canvas in pencil. This will prevent huge mistakes :)

Now it's time to go over to whatever you drew or wrote with paint.
I chose to write "Summer Vibes" as I was in a Summer-y mood

This is the finished result :) I think it's a really inexpensive way to write or draw whatever you want! Send me pictures on Instagram if you give it a try :)

My Beach Essentials

A little Jar of Thoughts. Fashion. Beauty. DIY. Advice. Beach Essentials. Blog

Hi Lovlies :)

The long awaited summer is here! Time to show of that bikini body you've been working so hard for (by binge watching Pretty Little Liars whilst eating a bag of crisps) and head to the beach.
Here are my beach essentials that I always carry in my beach bag.

So you obviously need a beach bag to carry all your stuff in. This one is shocking pink and I think it's perfect for summer :)

A towel is also a must-have

I think sun cream is the most important essential - it protects you from the harmful rays of the sun! Definitely include this in your beach bag, especially if you're spending a whole day at the beach!

A wallet is essential - do I need to explain further?

My bikini is usually not in my beach bag as I'm usually wearing it. This one is from "Jennyfer" and I'm obsessed with the colours.

I always carry a good book with me to the beach. I think the beach is the perfect environment to sit back and relax with a book. This book is by John Grisham and it's called "The Abduction" It's an amazing read :)

I always carry a floppy hat with me when I go to the beach
 1) It protects my face from the sun
2) It's really cute and stylish :)

Call me a child for life- but I always carry goggles with me :) Is it just me?
 It probably is.

Anyone who knows me knows that I always wear sunglasses, whether it's to the beach or out shopping! This pair of stylish sunnies are from "Accessorize"

I usually keep a small makeup bag with me where I keep some small essentials like these ⇩

In the makeup bag, I usually keep a portable brush & mirror, a pack of tissues, lip balm, a hair tie and this Vitamin E face refresher that I got from "The Body Shop" which is amazing :)

I hope you found my beach essentials helpful! Do you have any essentials that I didn't mention? Drop a comment down below :)
